Certificate Course

Fulltime Course

  • National Certificate in Welding Level 3
  • National Certificate in Welding Level 4

This course is offered to both Domestic and International Students. However Studylink funding is not available for this course at present.

We have been successfully offering NZQA National Certificate in Welding Level 3 and Level 4 for 3 years now and have been proud to provide the Engineering Industry with well trained qualified Welders. No previous welding experience needed. This is a one year course with a minimum 20 hours class contact time each week. The certificate course is designed for people wishing to pursue a career in welding. It is aimed at preparing people to be highly qualified in all aspects of welding an could lead to supervisory or inspection positions with suitable work and life experience. Requirements:

  • All Students
    • No previous welding experience needed
    • Applicants must be 18 years or over.
    • Applicants should have sufficient physical stamina to be able to weld for several hours per day.
    • Applicants must be able to perform the mechanical tasks required to complete the course unit standards.
    • Proven competency in maths.
    • All applicants must prove their legal status to allow them study in New Zealand
  • International Students
    • Applicants must have a current IELTS 5.5
    • Correct visa to study in New Zealand

Graduate Profile

Graduates will have practical welding skills covering joining of steel, stainless steel and aluminium, employing the following techniques:

  • Manual metal arc welding (MMAW)
  • Gas metal arc welding (GMAW or MIG)
  • Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW or TIG) and
  • Cutting using manual processes.

Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to meet all requirements for certified welding in the engineering industry.
