Further Advance your skills in TIG (GTAW - TIG) welding at the Welding Academy

Building on the knowledge you already have of Tig welding This one-week training course will advance your knowledge and skills in positional welding in order to take an optional industry recognised Welder
Qualification Test.

What will I learn?

Students will increase knowledge of health and safety practices associated with welding, advanced
machinery set-up and problem-solving including Electrode selection and preparation and Gas regulation and flow settings You will also learn advanced TIG welding skills. There is a theory element to the course and you will receive a training workbook including practical exercises and WPS. This course is available during the day and evening hours.

Objective

Upon completion, the student should be able to:

  • Understand welding safety
  • Understand advanced welding theory
  • Successfully set up and adjust welding equipment
  • Set-up and prepare material for welding
  • Perform fillet welds in all positions
  • Perform butt welds in all positions

Progression Options

Those completing Week 1 can progress onto Week 2. Learners may also choose to do another process at the same level.

Prerequisites

 Either Tig modules 1 & 2 or previous industry Tig welding experience

Required equipment

Each Student must outfit themselves with full Personal Protections Equipment (PPE) which includes:

Welding Helmet

Safety Glasses

Steel Cap Boots

Cotton Overalls

Gloves

Ear Plugs

Dust Masks

 If you have your own PPE please bring it with you. PPE can be purchased from the Welding Academy.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Welding Academy Certificate of
Attendance. If you do the optional Welder Qualification Test and are successful, then you will also receive a Welder Qualification Certificate.

Please note, If no cancellation notice is given prior to the start of any class, a portion of, or all of the tuition cost may be forfeited

Bookings & Payments

 Bookings must be confirmed with either a purchase order (Business accounts) or full payment to secure the booking.
Business account customers will be invoiced upon booking; our standard payment terms are 30 days unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Payment can be made internet banking to ANZ Account No: 06 0705 046262700. Use your name as reference

Cancellation Policy

 The Welding Academy accepts customer cancellations without charge up to 7 days prior to commencement of training. Cancellation less than 7 days will incur a 50% course fee. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a 100% course fee. Transfers to alternative course dates will not incur any additional charge to the customer if the transfer is made up to 7 days prior to commencement of training. Where courses are under subscribed The Welding Academy may cancel or re-arrange a course at their discretion. Customers will be notified no later than 10 working days prior to the planned commencement date. Payment must be received 7 days in advance of the course start date (for non- account customers)
